The National Chapter of Canada IODE Violet Downey Book Award has announced the shortlist for the 2012 Awards. The Award is given yearly for the best young children’s English language book containing at least 500 words of text. The winner will be announced at IODE Canada’s 112th National Annual Corporate Meeting, being held at the Delta Airport West Hotel in Mississauga, Ontario on May 26, 2012.
IODE Canada is a national women’s charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals through education support, community service and citizenship programs.
The five Canadian authors short-listed for this Award are:
- Dragon Seer’s Gift by Janet McNaughton
- Howl by Karen Hood-Caddy
- That Fatal Night by Sarah Ellis
- This Dark Endeavour by Kenneth Oppel
- Timber Wolf by Caroline Pignat
